SOTHEBY’S DIAMONDS AND MAGNIFICENT JEWELS: A DIAMOND STUDDED NIGHT AT ART BASEL MIAMI

During Art Basel Miami 2015, a VIP cocktail party was held in the Penthouse Suite at the One Hotel Southbeach, to showcase Sotheby’s Diamonds, a retail collection, and a preview of very important necklaces for the Magnificent Jewels Auction at Sotheby’s NY. The invitation-only event attracted a host of fashionable guests including Architectural Digest editor in chief Margaret Russell. Necklaces including pieces from Queen Nazli of Egypt and the Bergreen Estate were paired with elegant gowns by Marc Jacobs.

Sotheby’s Jewelery specialist Frank Everett delighted guests with stories of the jewels provenance such as a rare platinum, aquamarine, sapphire and diamond sautoir designed by Cartier, London,1929. The subsequent Auction on Dec. 9 realized over $50 million, with six of the eight top lots featuring fantastically large stones.
